SENIORS LOOKING FORWARD
A number of interesting Senior Adult activities are being planned
with you and your friends in mind. Our most recent activities
included:
Thursday, November 15, 2007 – Thanksgiving in the
Country--Meet at the Family Life Center at 9:30 a.m.
to carpool to the Gantt Farm in St. Matthews. Dr. Michael Montgomery
will speak to us on the subject of Early Southern Languages while
we enjoy a catered lunch on the grounds, weather permitting. Cost
for the lunch is $5.00 per person, to be collected when served.
Some highlights of our visit will be touring the historic house,
which dates from the 1830’s and is delightfully furnished
from that day. The old stage coach road from Columbia to Charleston
runs through the yard. You may be interested to know that Sherman’s
forces camped nearby. On the property is “The Past”
museum with many interesting relics.
Thursday, December 13, 2007 – CHRISTmas Luncheon
and Goodie Exchange -- Our annual celebration of friendship
and our common relationship with Jesus, born as a baby, like us
in all ways but sin, sacrificed on the cross to pay our debt for
our transgressions! This year’s event will feature the St.
Andrews Presbyterian Church in Irmo’s Praise Ensemble presenting
a program of CHRISTmas music and traditional songs. Sing along!
Bring a plate of your favorite CHRISTmas treats. We will have
an exchange, so everyone goes home with an assortment to share
with family and friends. A special menu features tasty holiday
