Class Information

 
 
 
Remnant Class
Thornwell 201; Anne Mathias
Gospel of John

This class is for women of all ages and stages of life. It has an atmosphere that is both relaxed and inquisitive. This class enjoys studying the Scriptures and encouraging one another in the faith. These ladies are known for their care for one another and others.


Sojourner Class
Wardlaw Auditorium (Thornwell 3rd Floor); Derek Thomas
The Gospel Chain

This class is designed for young professionals in their twenties and early thirties, married or single. While one of the objectives of the class is to foster fellowship with one another, the class also seeks to combine in-depth Bible study with asking and attempting to answer honest questions about the Christian faith, life, and practice.


Community & Fellowship Class

Matthew

The Community/Fellowship class is an inter-generational class that seeks to exhibit Christ-like character through Bible study, prayer and fellowship. One of the aims of the class is fellowship. With this in mind, the class regularly meets outside the classroom to provide the opportunity to know each other and develop a “sincere love of the brethren”   (I Peter 1:22).
 
 
New Covenant Class

Judges

This class welcomes all couples, particularly those who are new in their marriage and/or beginning their journey together as parents.  This class seeks to explore God's plan for engaging our culture, as a congregation and one body of believers, with grace and truth.


College Class
Thornwell 209; Jon Dando, Sammy Rhodes
I Samuel

The college class provides a place where college students can grow together in Christ while deepening their understanding of the gospel of grace and the relevance of the Scriptures to every aspect of life. The desire of the class is to provide students with the opportunity to examine the Scriptures, enjoy  close fellowship with other college and university men and women, and build relationships with adults in the church.


John Knox Class

Colossians

This class welcomes individuals or couples of all ages. The class studies books of the Bible, with a focus on growing to maturity in faith and discovering what it means to be Christian men and women in today’s world.
 

Westminster Class

Joshua

The Westminster class, primarily designed for couples with young children, is a class seeking to draw people together toward a common core of interests. With that aim in mind, the class seeks to foster good teaching, lively discussion, and deep fellowship both inside and outside the classroom.
 

Timothy Class
Thornwell 306; Dr. Steve Suits
History of the Church in the First Century: New Testament Survey, Acts - Revelation

The Timothy class, adopting its theme from the biblical book with the same name, seeks to “become workmen, approved by God, who have no need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (II Tim. 2:15). Visitors are most welcome to attend this cross-generational class of caring and praying people.


Bridges Class

Acts

The goal of the Bridges class is to provide a “bridge” to the Russian-speaking community of Columbia. The Bible lessons are introductory in nature and bilingual—first given in English then translated into Russian.

 
International Class

Mark
 
This class is designed for native and non-native speakers of English from any linguistic or cultural background who desire to understand the Bible better and enjoy fellowship. This semester, we are engaging in an overview of the Bible, from beginning to end, in order to grasp the "big picture" of who God is, what He has done, and how we can know Him.  Feel free to join us and bring a friend!

 

Women’s Bible Class

Knowing God


This class consists of women of all ages and stages in life who are seeking to grow in their knowledge and love of the Lord as they consider the themes of grace and salvation in Christ, godly living, and comfort in times of suffering.


Biblical Foundations Class

Discovering Your Spiritual Gift

The Biblical Foundations for Growing Christians class contains a diverse group of adults from college age through retirement years, single and married.  We pray for each other as a class and exchange prayer requests in class and by email.  In addition to our study together, we minister to one another in practical ways as the need arises and try to gather socially as a class from time to time. Our theme verse is Acts 2:42—“They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”


Men’s Bible Class

ARP Quarterly: God Establishes a Faithful People

The Men’s Bible class consists of men of all ages who are seeking to delve into the Scriptures to discover life principles for guidance in their life callings. The class has long enjoyed in-depth study, friendship, support, and outside service projects.
 
 
Alice Jackson Class

ARP Quarterly: God Establishes a Faithful People 

This class for women takes its name from a former teacher and pastor’s wife. Mrs. Alice Stewart Jackson taught the Philathea Class from 1933 to 1958  which eventually became known as the Alice Jackson class.  The women of this class are known for their love for the Word, inspiring teaching, and loyal friendships.
 
 
Berean Class

I & II Thessalonians

This class is designed for those of any age or stage in life who are interested in in-depth Bible study in a large group setting. The lessons are lecture in nature and cover a wide spectrum of Biblical topics and books.
 
 

Grace Presbyterian Church
Thornwell 205 & 208; Brandon Barrett
Acts

 Brandon Barrett is the Grace Presbyterian Church planter. This class is a gathering place for those who are curious about this new church as well as for those who are already feeling led by the Lord to become a part of this ministry into the Northeast/Pontiac area of Columbia. This class is one part of the training for this new church plant but is open to anyone who would like to attend. This class is meeting through January 22.
